Technically Speaking

Yes, I am excited I did so well in the recent competitions. I am very competitive. Felt like the old days in track and field, fanning my ribbons like a peacock in heat. However, that does not make me a great photographer.

One thing I know is that like any art form, photography is subjective. Just because "I" think the photo of my little girl should win first in every category does not make it so, and the photo I almost didn't enter won first...twice. WTF?

My winter scene, it's a cool photo but I reluctantly entered it. The judges ate it up.

I have a lot to learn about photography. I have barely wet the bottom of the bucket in terms of what there is to know. However it is nice to know that up against other photographers, someone sees something in my pictures.

This is just the beginning.
